Privacy Policy

What information is involved when you read, subscribe, follow a link, or interact with ExplaneIt Health, and the choices available to you.

Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ExplaneIt Health handles information associated with its public website, optional newsletter, and publication-related messages. It covers the information we receive, why it is used, the services involved, and the choices available to readers. It does not replace the independent privacy notices of a research publisher, retailer, social network, or another website you choose to visit.

You can read public articles without creating a reader account or providing a medical profile. We do not offer personal diagnosis or clinical care through the website. A visit to a health article is not treated by the publication as proof that you have the condition being discussed, and it should not be used as a reason to disclose a diagnosis or other sensitive details.

Information Associated with a Visit

When a browser requests a page, the services delivering and protecting the website may receive technical information such as the network address, requested URL, request time, browser information, referring address, and whether a request succeeded. Some of this information is inherent in delivering a website and diagnosing reliability or security problems. The exact records depend on the hosting and network services involved.

We do not require your name, date of birth, postal address, payment information, or health history to browse articles. Technical information can nevertheless relate to an identifiable device or person, particularly when combined with information held elsewhere. We therefore distinguish between not requesting a reader profile and claiming that an ordinary visit generates no information at all.

Searches and Information You Choose to Share

The site's search feature uses the words entered in the search box to return relevant pages. Search terms can appear in the page address and may therefore be included in browser history or ordinary technical records. Please use general topic words rather than names, medical record numbers, private test results, or another person's identifying information when searching.

Information you choose to provide in a newsletter form or a social message is different from information generated by browsing. We use that information for the purpose associated with the interaction, such as handling a subscription or understanding a correction suggestion. Do not submit information about another person unless you are authorized to do so, and avoid details that are not necessary for your request.

Why Information Is Used

Information associated with the website may be used to deliver requested pages, prevent abuse, investigate errors, maintain availability, and respond to publication-related messages. If you choose to subscribe when the newsletter is available, your address is used to manage that subscription and deliver the requested reading updates. We do not require a newsletter subscription as a condition of reading an article.

These purposes should not be confused with a health assessment. We do not use messages or subscriptions to provide individualized treatment, and the site does not maintain a reader medical record. A new purpose involving personal information may require a separate explanation or permission under applicable law; simply publishing this policy does not create permission for every possible future use.

Browser Storage and Preferences

When a newsletter invitation is available, the site uses local browser storage to remember that the invitation was shown or that a subscription request was submitted. The reminder timestamp is used to avoid showing the invitation repeatedly within a seven-day period, and a subscription marker can suppress further invitations in that browser. These preference entries do not contain your email address.

Local storage is separate from your newsletter subscription. Clearing site data or changing devices can reset the invitation, but it does not unsubscribe an email address already held by the delivery service. Conversely, unsubscribing does not necessarily clear a preference stored in a particular browser. Browser settings let you inspect or delete site data, though doing so may reset other saved choices.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small values stored by a browser; local storage is a related browser feature used for saved preferences. Website delivery and security services may also use necessary technologies to operate or protect the service. Advertising technologies, when enabled, can have different purposes, such as delivering placements, limiting repetition, preventing invalid activity, and measuring advertising performance.

The presence of a general cookie explanation is not a claim that every technology is active on every visit. Our current advertising status is described separately below. Where a particular use requires consent or another choice under applicable rules, a privacy notice alone does not replace that requirement. Browser controls and provider-specific settings can affect storage, but may not prevent every kind of technical record.

Current Advertising and Analytics

The site is not currently loading Google AdSense advertising code. It also does not include a dedicated third-party website analytics script in the public application. This statement does not mean that hosting, security, or external services have no technical records, or that another website you visit through a link follows the same practices.

Advertising may be introduced later with an updated description of the services and choices involved. Preparing an advertising space or explaining a potential provider does not mean that tracking code is active. Where advertising requires a consent mechanism or other privacy choice, that must be addressed separately; browsing a page or accepting general terms is not a substitute for a legally required choice.

Optional Newsletter

A newsletter subscription form is not currently enabled on this version of the site, so the public website is not accepting new newsletter addresses through that form. You do not need to provide an email address to access articles. If the newsletter becomes available, the subscription request will be optional and will explain the permission being requested.

The newsletter service used by this publication is Kit when the feature is enabled. A subscription may involve an email address, confirmation status, delivery records, and related service information. Existing subscriptions, if any, remain subject to their unsubscribe options even while a website form is unavailable. We do not infer that every person browsing the site has joined a mailing list.

Newsletter Choices and Unsubscribing

If you receive an ExplaneIt newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in the email to stop future newsletter delivery. You do not need to create a website account to use that option. Do not submit a fresh subscription request as a way to remove an existing address. The status of an address is managed by the email service, separately from preferences saved in a browser.

Unsubscribing and deleting all records are different actions. A delivery service may retain limited suppression information to avoid sending future messages to someone who opted out, as well as records needed for security or legal obligations. For a question or a request that cannot be handled by the email's available controls, you can send a brief private message to our Instagram account without including sensitive documents.

Instagram and Other External Platforms

Our Instagram profile provides updates and a channel for general publication questions, correction suggestions, and privacy requests. Following the profile, commenting, or sending a direct message takes place on Instagram and is also subject to Meta's terms and privacy practices. Merely displaying a plain link to our profile is not the same as embedding a social tracking widget in the article.

If you send a message, we may see the profile information made available with it and the content you choose to provide. Public comments can be visible to other people. Please use a direct message for a privacy matter and keep it limited to the information needed to describe the request. Do not send medical records, identity documents, passwords, payment details, or photographs of symptoms.

Service Providers and Disclosures

The website relies on services that deliver pages, store publication content, protect availability, and, when enabled, manage newsletter delivery or advertising. Providers can process the information necessary for their particular role. A hosting provider's technical records are different from an email provider's subscriber records, and neither should be described as a clinical record held by ExplaneIt.

We do not sell or rent the newsletter mailing list. Information may nevertheless need to be disclosed to comply with a valid legal obligation, address abuse or a security issue, or protect legally recognized rights. If the publication's ownership or service arrangements change, related personal information may be affected subject to applicable requirements and appropriate notice. Advertising-related disclosures are described separately rather than hidden by a blanket claim of no sharing.

Retention and Deletion

Different records serve different purposes and do not necessarily share one retention period. Browser preferences remain until they are overwritten or removed in the browser. Hosting records follow the relevant service's retention and security arrangements. Newsletter records can remain while a subscription is active and, for limited purposes, after an opt-out. Messages may be kept long enough to address their subject and any associated obligations.

We do not promise an exact deletion date that the services involved cannot support. Deletion may be limited by legal obligations, fraud prevention, unresolved disputes, suppression requirements, or backups that expire through normal processes. A request to delete information is assessed according to applicable rights and the records actually held; it does not automatically erase information independently controlled by a retailer, social platform, or research publisher.

Security and Sensitive Information

We use safeguards intended to protect the information and services associated with the publication, but no internet service, email channel, or social platform can guarantee absolute security. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information through any of these channels. A private message is not a secure medical portal, and the website should not be used as a place to store or transmit clinical records.

Take care with your own device, email account, and social profile. We do not need your password, a verification code for your account, or payment-card information to handle an editorial or privacy question. If a message claiming to be ExplaneIt requests such information, do not supply it. Use the profile linked on this website to distinguish our stated social account from an unrelated account.

International Processing and Applicable Rights

The publication and its service providers may operate in different locations, and information can be processed outside your country. The protections and legal requirements that apply can depend on where you live, the information involved, the service used, and the relevant processing relationship. Listing a provider does not mean that every provider stores all information in one location or applies an identical retention schedule.

Where applicable law provides them, rights may include access to personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent for processing based on consent. Those rights can have conditions and exceptions. Withdrawing consent does not automatically make earlier lawful processing invalid. You may also have a right to raise a concern with the appropriate privacy regulator in your location.

Privacy Requests and Identity Checks

You can raise a privacy question or request through a private direct message to @explaneit_health on Instagram. State the kind of request and the interaction it concerns, such as a newsletter subscription or an earlier message. Start with a general description rather than sending an email archive, medical history, identity document, or another person's information. This channel is not for urgent health questions.

Before acting on a request involving personal records, we may need a proportionate way to confirm that the requester is entitled to those records. Do not send sensitive proof unsolicited through social media. The response and any required steps depend on the records involved and applicable law; a request cannot guarantee deletion of data controlled independently by Instagram, a retailer, or another provider. Unsubscribe links remain the direct route for stopping newsletter delivery.

Browser Choices and Advertising Preferences

Your browser may offer controls for cookies, local storage, third-party requests, and saved history. Clearing site data can reset the newsletter invitation and other browser preferences, but does not erase server records or cancel a subscription. Private browsing can reduce information kept on the device after a session; it does not make a visit invisible to the services delivering the page.

Where Google advertising is enabled, Google's own settings provide additional choices about personalization. Other retailers and platforms offer their own controls. There is no universal browser setting that guarantees all external services will treat every signal identically. A general privacy preference should be considered alongside any service-specific choices and rights that apply in your location.

Children and Young Readers

ExplaneIt is a general-audience educational publication, not a service designed to collect information from children. We do not ask children to create reader profiles or submit a medical history. Newsletter participation and social-platform interactions must meet the applicable age and permission requirements of the relevant service and local law.

A parent or guardian who believes that a child has provided personal information in connection with the publication can raise the issue through a private Instagram message. Do not include the child's health records, identification documents, or unnecessary personal details in the initial message. An article discussing child health does not make the website a pediatric consultation service or a suitable place for a child to seek individual medical advice.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the publication, enabled features, providers, or applicable requirements. The date shown at the top identifies this version. Material changes may require additional notice or a new choice where applicable law requires one; changing the wording of a policy alone does not automatically authorize a new use of personal information.

Review the current policy when deciding whether to use an optional feature or follow a link to another service. Our Terms of Use explain the educational nature of the publication, and our Editorial Standards describe how content is handled. You can read public articles without joining the newsletter, following the social account, or supplying information about your health.
